Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional provides person‑centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Luzerne County. This role includes assisting with daily living skills, promoting independence, ensuring safety, and providing transportation to community activities, appointments, and other outings. A male DSP is requested based on individual preference and support needs.
Key Responsibilities
Individual Support — Assist with daily living skills, personal care (as needed), meal prep, and household tasks.
Community Integration — Support individuals in accessing community activities, events, and social opportunities.
Transportation — Safely transport individuals using your personal vehicle or agency vehicle; maintain punctuality for appointments and scheduled outings.
Documentation — Complete daily notes, incident reports, and progress summaries according to ODP and agency standards.
Health & Safety — Follow all ODP regulations, individual support plans, and agency protocols to ensure safety
Qualifications
Male staff required based on individual preference and support needs.
Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass all background checks required by ODP.
High school diploma or GED.
Experience in human services preferred but not required.
Ability to lift, assist, and support individuals as needed.
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and reliability.
Schedule & Work Environment
Hours vary based on individual needs and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends.
Work occurs in the individual’s home and throughout Luzerne County during community outings.
